WRINKLE RELAXERS IN HILLIARD, OH
What Wrinkle Relaxers Treat
Wrinkle relaxers work best on dynamic lines, the ones that appear or deepen when you raise your brows, frown, or smile. A small amount of product relaxes the muscle underneath, so the skin above it creases less.
The most common areas we treat are:
- Forehead lines: horizontal lines that show when you raise your eyebrows
- Frown lines: the vertical “11s” between your brows
- Crow’s feet: lines at the outer corners of your eyes when you smile
Lines that are etched in even when your face is relaxed, or hollows from volume loss, often respond better to other options. For those, your provider may talk with you about dermal fillers instead of, or alongside, a wrinkle relaxer.
Botox, Dysport, or Jeuveau: How Your Provider Chooses
All three products contain botulinum toxin type A and work the same basic way. They aren’t identical, though, and your provider will recommend one based on the area, your past response, and how you’d like your results to feel.
Product | Price | What to know |
Botox® Cosmetic | $13 per unit | FDA-approved for frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead lines, and neck bands. Approved for cosmetic use since 2002 |
Dysport® | $4.25 per unit | FDA-approved for frown lines. Measured on a different unit scale, so a treatment uses more units than Botox |
Jeuveau® | $12 per unit | FDA-approved for frown lines. An option for patients who want an alternative to Botox |
Price per unit doesn’t tell the whole story. According to the Botox Cosmetic prescribing information, units of one botulinum toxin product can’t be converted to another, which is why Dysport’s lower unit price doesn’t mean a lower total cost. Your provider will give you an estimate for your specific treatment at your consultation. For a closer look at two of these options, read Dysport vs. Botox for forehead lines and crow’s feet.
Our Approach: Natural Movement, Not a Set Number of Units
There’s no standard dose that fits everyone. Before treating, your provider watches how your face moves, looks at the strength of each muscle, and asks what you want to keep, like the ability to raise your brows when you’re surprised.
First-time patients often start conservatively. It’s easier to add a little at your follow-up than to wait for too much to wear off. Over time, your provider learns how your muscles respond and adjusts your dose to keep results consistent.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Your first visit starts with a consultation about your goals and health history. Your provider will ask you to make a few expressions, then explain which areas to treat, which product fits, and the estimated cost.
The injections themselves take only a few minutes. Most people describe a series of quick pinches, and you can go back to work or errands the same day. Small bumps at the injection points usually flatten within an hour.

Side Effects, Aftercare, and When to Call Us
Most people have no side effects or only mild ones, like small bumps, light bruising, or a temporary headache. A less common side effect is a heavy or drooping eyelid or brow, which is temporary and usually improves over a few weeks. In clinical trials for Botox Cosmetic, eyelid drooping occurred in about 3% of people treated for frown lines.
For the best results, follow these aftercare steps:
- Don’t rub or massage the treated area for 4 hours
- Stay upright for 4 hours, and don’t lie face down
- Skip strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours
- Avoid tight hats or headbands across the forehead
Call us at 614-820-8050 if you have questions after treatment. Get medical care right away if you have trouble swallowing, breathing, or speaking, or muscle weakness beyond the treated area. The FDA label lists these as rare but serious effects.
Is a Wrinkle Relaxer Right for You?
Wrinkle relaxers are a good fit for most healthy adults who are bothered by lines from movement. We treat patients 18 and older. Your provider may recommend waiting or choosing another option if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have a nerve or muscle condition, such as myasthenia gravis
- Have had an allergic reaction to a botulinum toxin product
- Have an infection or irritation where you’d be treated

Wrinkle Relaxer FAQs
Most people find it tolerable. The needles are fine, each injection takes a second or two, and the whole treatment is usually over within minutes. If you’re nervous, tell your provider, and they can talk you through it.
It depends on the area, the strength of your muscles, and the look you want. Your provider will recommend a starting amount at your consultation and adjust it over time based on how you respond.
The goal is for you to look rested, not treated. Conservative dosing and careful placement help your face keep its natural movement, and many patients find that friends notice they look refreshed without knowing why.
Some unevenness can happen as the product settles, so wait the full two weeks before judging your results. If something still looks off, we’ll assess it at your follow-up and make small adjustments if needed.
Yes, many patients try more than one product over time. Because units differ between brands, your provider will adjust the amount rather than using the same number. Let us know if you’ve had a different product elsewhere and how it worked for you.
