RF MICRONEEDLING IN HILLIARD, OH

RF microneedling combines fine needles with radiofrequency energy to remodel the skin from within. The needles create tiny channels, and the energy gently heats the deeper layers, prompting new collagen over the following weeks. At Fade Aesthetics and Wellness in Hilliard, our nurse practitioners perform RF microneedling with the Lutronic Genius® for concerns like acne scars, large pores, and uneven texture.
Treatment begins at $700, with packages available.

Concerns RF Microneedling Can Help With

RF microneedling is a remodeling treatment, best suited to concerns that sit in the texture and structure of the skin.

Acne Scars

The combination of needling and heat can soften the look of indented acne scars over a series of treatments. Read RF microneedling for acne scars and large pores for a results timeline.

Enlarged Pores and Uneven Texture

As collagen rebuilds, skin can look smoother and pores less noticeable. Many patients choose RF microneedling when texture is their main concern.

Fine Lines and Mild Laxity

New collagen can improve firmness and soften fine lines. RF microneedling helps with mild laxity, but it isn’t a substitute for surgery when skin is significantly loose.

Other Scars and Stretch Marks

Our providers also use RF microneedling for scars from injury or surgery and for stretch marks. Your provider will talk with you about realistic improvement for your specific scar.

How RF Compares to Other Skin Treatments

RF microneedling isn’t a laser, and it isn’t a stronger version of every skin treatment. It’s one tool among several, each suited to different goals.

Treatment

Best suited to

Downtime

RF microneedling

Acne scars, pores, texture, mild laxity

A sunburn-like look for about 3 to 7 days

Traditional microneedling

Texture, fine lines, mild scarring, maintenance

Redness for about a day or two

MOXI laser

Tone, texture, and early sun damage at the surface

A few days of redness and roughness

BBL HERO

Sun spots, uneven color, and redness

Minimal; spots darken, then flake off

If your main concern is color, like sun spots or redness, a light-based treatment may make more sense. If it’s texture or scarring, RF microneedling is often a better fit. Compare options on our traditional microneedling, MOXI, and BBL HERO pages.

What to Expect, Step by Step

Consultation and skin assessment. Your provider looks at your skin, reviews your health history and medications, and recommends a plan, including how many sessions to expect.

Before your appointment. We provide a high-potency numbing cream for you to apply at home before you arrive, so you’re comfortable during treatment.

Treatment. Your provider adjusts needle depth and energy for each area of your face as they work. Most patients describe mild discomfort.

The first week. Expect a sunburn-like look that improves over three to seven days. Some people also notice mild tightness, itching, peeling, or pinpoint bleeding and bruising.

Results. Collagen production peaks around four to six weeks after each treatment and continues to build for months. Most concerns need three to four treatments spaced four to six weeks apart.

Maintenance. Results typically last 6 to 12 months. We usually recommend one maintenance treatment every 12 to 18 months after your series. Learn more about how long RF microneedling results last.

Aftercare

Following these steps helps your skin heal well and protects your results:

  • Skip makeup for 24 hours; mineral makeup is fine after that, and regular makeup after 72 hours
  • Don’t apply sunscreen for the first 24 hours; after that, use it daily and limit sun exposure for 7 days
  • Use only the products your provider approves, and avoid vitamin C, retinoids, hyaluronic acid serums, and glycolic or salicylic cleansers for 7 days
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory pain relievers like ibuprofen, and don’t use ice, arnica, or bromelain, for 7 days
  • Avoid swimming for 24 hours, and strenuous exercise and alcohol for 72 hours

Is RF Microneedling Right for You?

RF microneedling suits most healthy adults 18 and older with texture, scarring, or mild laxity concerns. Another treatment may be a better fit if your main concern is pigment or redness, or if you want little to no downtime. Your provider will recommend waiting or another option if you:

Safety and Choosing a Provider

RF microneedling is a medical procedure. In 2025, the FDA reminded patients that serious complications such as burns, scarring, and fat loss have been reported with certain uses of RF microneedling devices, and recommended choosing a licensed provider trained on the specific device. At Fade, RF microneedling is performed by our nurse practitioners, who adjust settings to your skin and follow up after treatment. For more, read can RF microneedling damage your skin?.

RF Microneedling FAQs

Does RF microneedling hurt?
Most patients report only mild discomfort. You’ll apply a high-potency numbing cream at home before your appointment, and your provider can adjust settings as they work.
How many treatments will I need?
Most concerns, including acne scarring and laxity, need three to four treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Your provider will recommend a plan after assessing your skin.
When can I go back to work?

Many people return to normal activities right away, though your skin will look sunburned for a few days. If you have an event, plan treatment at least a week ahead.

Is RF microneedling safe for darker skin tones?

RF microneedling doesn’t rely on light, which lowers some pigment risks compared with certain lasers, and it’s often an option for deeper skin tones. Your provider will still assess your skin and adjust settings, and sun protection afterward is important to prevent dark spots.

How long do results last?

Results typically last 6 to 12 months, and good skincare can help them last longer. Most patients schedule a maintenance treatment every 12 to 18 months.
