MOXI Laser in Hilliard, OH

MOXI™ is a gentle, non-ablative laser made by Sciton that refreshes the top layers of the skin. It's designed for uneven tone, rough texture, and early sun damage, with short downtime and sessions that take about 10 minutes. At Fade Aesthetics and Wellness in Hilliard, we use MOXI both to treat early signs of aging and to help prevent them.

What MOXI Treats

MOXI works on the surface of the skin, where tone and texture concerns show up first. Our providers commonly use it for:

  • Uneven complexion and dullness
  • Signs of sun damage, like freckling and blotchy tone
  • Rough texture
  • Fine lines
  • Melasma, as part of a provider-guided plan
  • Mild skin laxity

Why People Choose MOXI

MOXI’s main appeal is balance: noticeable improvement without the downtime of more aggressive lasers. It tends to suit people who:

Want prevention

Many patients start MOXI in their 20s or 30s to address early sun damage before it deepens

Have busy schedules

Treatment itself takes about 8 to 10 minutes, plus numbing time, and most people return to their routine the next day.

Want steady maintenance

MOXI can be repeated in a series or used a few times a year to keep skin looking fresh.

Prefer a gentler start

It’s a good introduction to laser treatments for people new to them

How MOXI Works

MOXI uses a 1927-nanometer laser to create tiny treatment zones in the upper layers of the skin, leaving the surrounding skin intact. This prompts your skin to shed damaged cells and renew itself. Because it’s non-ablative, it doesn’t remove the skin’s surface, which keeps recovery short. Your provider can adjust MOXI’s energy settings for your skin and goals, which is part of why it’s often an option for a wider range of skin tones than many stronger lasers.

MOXI vs. BBL HERO vs. RF Microneedling

These three treatments aren’t versions of the same thing. Each is designed for a different kind of concern.

MOXI

BBL HERO

RF microneedling

Main target

Surface tone and texture

Color: sun spots and redness

Deeper texture, scars, and pores

How it works

Fractional non-ablative laser

Broadband light

Needles plus radiofrequency heat

Typical downtime

About a day of redness

Minimal; spots darken, then flake

About 3 to 7 days

MOXI and BBL HERO are often paired, with BBL targeting spots and redness and MOXI refining texture. If acne scars or large pores are your main concern, RF microneedling may be a better fit. What to Expect

Before

A topical numbing cream is applied to keep you comfortable.

During

The treatment takes about 8 to 10 minutes. Most people feel warmth and a prickling sensation.

After

Your skin will look red and feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn. Most people have about a day of downtime and can wear makeup after 24 hours. Over the next several days, skin may feel rough and look slightly darker in spots as treated cells work their way out.

Results

Many patients notice brighter, smoother skin within 5 to 7 days, with more improvement over the following weeks.
Protect your skin from the sun after treatment and between sessions, since sun exposure can undo progress and raise the risk of pigment changes.

Planning Your MOXI Series

One MOXI session gives skin a refresh, but most goals take a series. We usually recommend 3 to 4 sessions spaced 4 to 5 weeks apart, and your provider will adjust that based on your skin. After your series, many patients schedule MOXI a few times a year for maintenance.

Fall and winter are popular times to start, since there’s less sun exposure while your skin heals.

MOXI Laser Treatment FAQs

Does MOXI hurt?
A numbing cream is applied first, so most people find it manageable. You’ll feel warmth and prickling during the few minutes of treatment, and your skin may feel warm afterward.
Can darker skin tones get MOXI?
Often, yes. MOXI’s adjustable settings make it an option for many skin tones, but your provider will assess your skin first and choose settings to lower the risk of pigment changes.
Is there downtime?
Most people have about a day of redness and can wear makeup the next day. Skin may feel rough for several days as it renews. Downtime varies, so plan around events.
How many sessions will I need?
Most patients need 3 to 4 sessions spaced 4 to 5 weeks apart. Your provider will recommend a plan based on your goals.
Can I combine MOXI with other treatments?
Yes. MOXI is often paired with BBL HERO, and it can fit into a plan with injectables or other skin treatments. Your provider will space treatments so each one works well.
