BBL HERO in Hilliard, OH
What BBL® HERO™ Treats
BBL HERO is designed for visible color concerns. Our providers commonly use it for:
- Sun spots and age spots
- Uneven or blotchy pigment from sun exposure
- Facial redness, including redness from rosacea
- Small visible blood vessels
- Cherry angiomas (small red spots)
Many patients also notice smoother, more even-looking skin overall as their color improves.
Forever Clear BBL for Acne
Forever Clear BBL uses a combination of wavelengths to address active acne. Blue light targets acne-causing bacteria, yellow light calms inflammation and redness, and infrared energy supports healing. It’s an option for people whose breakouts haven’t improved with products alone.
How Broadband Light Works
BBL isn't a laser. A laser uses a single wavelength of light, while broadband light uses a range of wavelengths that can be filtered for different targets. Brown pigment and the red in small blood vessels absorb the light, which heats and breaks them up. Your body then clears them away over the following days and weeks. That's what makes BBL HERO different from MOXI or microneedling. BBL focuses on color, while those treatments focus mainly on texture and resurfacing. HERO stands for High Energy Rapid Output, which allows larger areas to be treated efficiently.
BBL HERO vs. MOXI
| BBL HERO | MOXI |
Main target | Color: sun spots, pigment, redness | Tone and texture at the surface |
Technology | Broadband light | Fractional non-ablative laser |
What you’ll see after | Spots darken, then flake off | Redness and a rough, sandpaper feel |
Often paired? | Yes, with MOXI | Yes, with BBL HERO |
If your main concern is color, BBL HERO is usually the starting point. For texture and acne scars, RF microneedling may fit better. Read BBL HERO vs. MOXI for sun damage and uneven tone, or visit our Hilliard MOXI page.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
- Have a recent tan, including from self-tanner
- Have a deeper skin tone, where the light could affect surrounding skin
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Take medications that increase light sensitivity
- Have melasma, which can respond unpredictably to heat and light
What to Expect
During. A topical numbing cream is typically applied first. You’ll wear eye protection, and each pulse feels like a warm snap.
Right after. Your skin may be red and slightly swollen, similar to a mild sunburn. This usually fades within a short time.
The next week or so. Treated brown spots often darken and may look like coffee grounds before flaking off. Redness may look slightly worse before it improves. This is a normal sign the light reached its target.
Results. Many patients see brighter, more even skin within a few days to a couple of weeks, with more improvement after each session.
